Proof That PROTEIN Really Works
The benefits of protein don't just go away when you're done.

Protein has many benefits and can help in the prevention of illnesses and diseases. Grinding protein shakes all day won't automatically lead to muscle growth. Still, it will increase your protein intake during workouts by increasing blood flow to muscles which keeps you full longer and supports muscle maintenance. Protein also helps with recovery so that your muscles are more potent and overall performance is enhanced, accelerating progress towards reaching goals like weight loss or increasing endurance. In short, whenever someone tells you that "you'll get leaner from eating a lot of protein", they're not joking.

Here's why protein is perfect for you:

1) Protein is the only macronutrient that contains ALL the essential amino acids. All nine (A, E, D, C, and B) are present in different quantities. These amino acids are what compose proteins that catalyze all cellular functions.

2) Your muscles need protein to repair and maintain themselves (which is essential). A few grams of protein a day will help make sure that they have what they need to perform optimally and continue growing. After all, building size isn't just about adding muscle – you also have to keep it maintained!

3) Protein also speeds up recovery after workouts. The quicker you recover, the sooner you can work out the muscles again. More workouts = more muscle gain!

4) The majority of your energy comes typically from carbohydrates which can be very bad because they're stored as fat if not burned off. That's why people often say to "burn all carbs". Protein doesn't add body fat and is a much healthier and long term approach for losing weight. Eating a high protein diet in conjunction with training can lead to weight loss rather than gain, especially when paired with reduced caloric intake (i.e. eating less).

5) Protein is also found in plenty of other foods aside from just fish, chicken, beef, and milk products. That makes it easier on your wallet and the planet because all these animal products are wasteful and take away from natural resources. Plus, you could even get a lot of protein from eating tofu or other vegetarian foods.

6) Protein is no stranger to pills – it's been used as an essential medicine for thousands of years. The forefathers of modern medical science, like Hippocrates and Galen, wrote about the benefits of protein in the treatment of various ailments.

7) Intake of protein is correlated with better health markers throughout the lifespan: increased bone density and maintenance as you age are just two examples, both of which can significantly affect your ability to live a longer life.

8) There are many situations where eating extra protein is essential, including but not limited to: during pregnancy, for building muscle, for building up immunity, as part of a weight loss plan, and to increase energy and cognitive benefits.

9) Eating a lot of protein will also help prevent sarcopenia, which is the ageing process that affects many people starting from their 30s or even earlier. Sarcopenia affects many parts of the body, including (but not limited to): loss of muscle mass, reduced lean body mass, and stiffness. Not only does this affect your physical appearance, but it also affects your quality of life. Lack of muscle mass will decrease physical activity and strength, leading to a life of less vitality, physical well-being, and happiness.

10) Humans require quite a bit of protein – about 0.8 grams per pound of lean body mass per day. If you're looking to lose weight, this is probably the number one thing you should notice and aim for.

11) Protein is no stranger to the benefits it can bring when paired with other nutrients such as carbohydrates or fat: protein foods are much more satiating than carbohydrate foods, so they'll keep you feeling fuller longer – especially when eaten with something like fat (fat being much more satiating as well). This should help with weight loss.

12) Eating a lot of protein can also help boost the immune system

13) Vegans who eat lots of protein from meat substitutes tend to have a significantly reduced risk of death from any cause compared to vegans eating the same amount of calories from carbs.

"Eating a lot of protein can also help boost the immune system and fight off diseases.

14) Extra-lean red meats like turkey tend to be better options than fatty beef for healthy weight loss because they're high in protein and low in fat.
