Nicotine impedes blood flow by constricting capillaries preventing oxygen from reaching tissues depriving them of nutrients as they age. Furthermore, nicotine is linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease and other memory impairments.

Do you know what happens to the body when you get a sunburn? If not, then pay attention, and you'll understand why precautions should be taken. When exposed to the ultraviolet ray from the sun, several things happen to your skin. Ultraviolet rays damage the DNA in your skin's cells, which can lead to skin cancer.
The UV rays can also cause skin tanning, making it darker in colour, making us look good but causes wrinkles later in life as it makes our skin dry and rough. It also damages collagen within our skin, making it weaker and more susceptible to wrinkling.

Even though sunburn is not a severe threat, couldn't you sign up for a good sunscreen and wear it all the time? These might be great ideas. However, how do you avoid getting sunburn in the first place? First of all, if you are out in direct sunlight without any clothes on or if you are swimming even for just a few minutes, it is wise to be prepared with some protection against the sun's harmful rays. The problem is that the rays get in through areas where we least expect them to.

Get out of the direct sunlight as quickly as possible and allow your body to cool down after exposure to the heat from an afternoon's fun at home or work.
Wearing an over-the-counter sunblock lotion or spray and spending some time in the shade will help you keep your skin protected. Try to spend as much time outside during the day as possible and cover up any exposed skin. This is important, especially for children who are at risk of suffering from severe sunburns. Be sure to seek medical attention soon after being sunburned so that you can prevent damage from developing.

Smoking damages the circulatory system, lowers brain function and contributes significantly to diabetes, heart disease, lung cancer, emphysema and other serious illnesses. Smoking also increases your chances of contracting many sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
